I always read ASUS held a special place in the hearts of gamers, now i know why. This board is a beauty. The ease of install plus the features make it a breeze. I did not even get into the overclocking yet!! Right out of the box, it had every accessory needed, cables for all types of drives, SATA and IDE and any combo for raid connections, sli ready for two video cards, chipset with Gigabit LAN with Firewall righ on it, ten USB 2.0 ports, eight channel audio, and any option one can want. The bios gives pretty great options for tweaking and making the best out of your system. You can easily adjust the timings on your memory modules and also pick the base frequency. I got mine to read memory frequencies that were off the charts, but i am not supposed to be talking about over clocking!!
Installation was so easy, i had picked a big and heavy fan for my Athlon xp 4800+ chip, and i had no issues hooking it right in, and it fit nice and neat into the case. My 500w PSU seems to be enough to run all i have hooked up, and specs on this board say this should be fine, although newer things may suck more juice out of it.
In conclusion, This ASUS A8N-SLI was tested by many pros, and i read the great benchmark results, which helped me decide on this board. I wanted two Gigabit LAN controllers and built in RAID controllers, since i have a pile of older drives with classic games stored on them, and i can plug and play without a hitch. The BIOS is easily upgradeable from the website and they have top notch support for all their boards. The packaging is also superb, as i said, every possible part you may need is in the box.
The price is also a determining factor, i found mine new for under a hundred, a third off the new price when introduced. ASUS is truly a gamers paradise.
